Practice Questions
Concept Explanation
Data combination merges information from two or more small datasets (tables, caselets, or charts) to answer one question.
How to Read
- List facts from each source with labels.
- Find the link (same product, same year, same total).
- Combine only after units and bases match.
Example
Table 1: Product A = 200. Table 2: Product B = 300. Combined sales = 500.
Common Trap
Do not double-count items that appear in both sources unless the question asks for union with overlap.
-
Q1 EasyChart A: Online = Rs. 250 lakh. Chart B: Offline = Rs. 350 lakh. Total sales is:Explanation250 + 350 = 600 lakh. Hence the answer is Rs. 600 lakh.
-
Q2 EasyPlant 1 = 240, Plant 2 = 360 from two charts. Ratio Plant 1 : Plant 2 is:Explanation240 : 360 = 2 : 3. Hence the answer is 2 : 3.
-
Q3 EasyTable 1: East = 120. Table 2: West = 180. Combined regional total is:Explanation120 + 180 = 300. Hence the answer is 300.
-
Q4 EasyList 1: Item P = 80, Q = 120. List 2: Item R = 100. Grand total is:Explanation80 + 120 + 100 = 300. Hence the answer is 300.
-
Q5 EasyCaselet 1: Men = 300. Caselet 2: Women = 450. Total persons is:Explanation300 + 450 = 750. Hence the answer is 750.
-
Q6 EasySource 1 Q1 = 100; Source 2 Q2 = 120. Half-year total is:Explanation100 + 120 = 220. Hence the answer is 220.
-
Q7 MediumBatch 1 total 240; Batch 2 total 360. Batch 2 is what % of combined total?ExplanationCombined = 600. (360/600) × 100 = 60%. Hence the answer is 60%.
-
Q8 MediumPie 1 sector = 120; Pie 2 sector = 180 (same total 600 each). Combined sector value if totals merge is:Explanation120 + 180 = 300. Hence the answer is 300.
-
Q9 MediumCity data: Urban = 700, Rural = 500 (Source A). Suburban = 300 (Source B). All-area total is:Explanation700 + 500 + 300 = 1500. Hence the answer is 1500.
-
Q10 MediumTable X: Exports = 500. Table Y: Imports = 300. Trade surplus is:Explanation500 − 300 = 200. Hence the answer is 200.
-
Q11 MediumDept A revenue Rs. 400 lakh (Table), Dept B Rs. 600 lakh (Bar). A is what % of combined?ExplanationCombined = 1000. (400/1000) × 100 = 40%. Hence the answer is 40%.
-
Q12 HardDataset 1 average = 50 (2 values: 40, 60). Dataset 2 has one value 80. Combined average of three values is:ExplanationTotal = 40 + 60 + 80 = 180. Average = 60. Hence the answer is 60.
-
Q13 HardProduct line A total 420 from two tables (200 + 220). Product line B total 380 (180 + 200). A exceeds B by:Explanation420 − 380 = 40. Hence the answer is 40.
-
Q14 HardMorning shift = 150, Evening = 210, Night = 120 (from two tables). Average per shift is:ExplanationTotal = 480 for 3 shifts. Average = 480/3 = 160. Hence the answer is 160.
-
DS1 Easy
What is the combined East and West total?
Statement IEast = 120 (Table 1).
Statement IIWest = 180 (Table 2).
ExplanationNeed both sources: total = 300. Answer: C. -
DS2 Easy
What is total online plus offline sales?
Statement IOnline = Rs. 250 lakh.
Statement IIOffline = Rs. 350 lakh.
ExplanationNeed both: total = Rs. 600 lakh. Answer: C.

DS3 Medium
What is the trade surplus?
Statement IExports = 500.
Statement IIImports = 300.
ExplanationNeed both: surplus = 200. Answer: C. -
DS4 Medium
What is the combined average of three values 40, 60 and 80?
Statement IDataset 1 has 40 and 60.
Statement IIDataset 2 has 80.
ExplanationNeed both datasets to get all three values; average = 60. Answer: C.
