Concept Explanation

Statement-and-argument questions give a proposal or issue (often “Should …?”) and two arguments for or against. You decide which arguments are strong — logically relevant and meaningful for the statement — not which side you personally prefer.

Strong argument

  • Directly linked to the statement (policy, safety, fairness, cost, access, etc.).
  • Gives a clear reason that would matter in a real decision.
  • Avoids vague feelings, unrelated facts, or obvious trivia.

Weak argument

  • Irrelevant detail (e.g. “because it has wheels”).
  • Extreme or universal claims without support (“always”, “never”, “everyone”).
  • True but off-topic facts that do not support yes or no.

How to solve fast

  1. Judge I and II separately against the statement.
  2. Ignore emotional wording; check whether the reason bears on the decision.
  3. Pick Only I / Only II / Both / Neither from your two marks.
