Concept Explanation

Calendar questions test day–date logic: weekdays, leap years, and counting forward or backward by days. They appear on almost every placement and bank LR paper (IndiaBIX / PrepInsta style). You do not need a full calendar memorised — use odd days and 7-day cycles.

Core facts

  • Ordinary year: 365 days = 52 weeks + 1 odd day.
  • Leap year: 366 days = 52 weeks + 2 odd days (Feb has 29 days).
  • Leap rule: divisible by 4; century years only if divisible by 400 (2000 yes, 1900 no).
  • Same weekday: adding or subtracting a multiple of 7 days does not change the day name.

How to solve fast

  1. Anchor on a known date (1 Jan or a festival date given in the question).
  2. Count days between dates; take remainder ÷ 7 and move that many weekdays forward.
  3. For year-to-year 1 Jan, add 1 odd day (ordinary) or 2 (leap).
  4. For century totals, use 100 years → 5 odd days, 400 years → 0 odd days.
