Concept Explanation

Placement puzzle questions give several clues about order, position, floor, day, or matching. You combine clues until only one arrangement fits. They are different from single-topic seating rows: you often mix floors, schedules, comparisons (older/heavier/higher marks), and matching (city, colour, subject).

Common puzzle types

  • Vertical: floors, stacked boxes, shelves (top/middle/bottom).
  • Time: days of week, months, order of events.
  • Comparison chains: A > B > C for age, rank, marks, weight.
  • Double row / grid: who faces whom; match set A to set B.
  • Assignment: each person gets one unique city, job, or vehicle.

How to solve fast

  1. Write a blank table (people × floors/days/subjects) before reading clues twice.
  2. Fix anchors first (e.g. “Wednesday”, “top floor”, “scores 100”).
  3. Use elimination: if only one slot remains for a person or value, fill it.
  4. Never assume extra people or duplicate values unless the question allows it.
