Concept Explanation

Each item has an Assertion (A) and a Reason (R). First decide whether A and R are each true or false on their own. Then, only if both are true, ask whether R is the correct explanation of A (R must show why A happens, not merely a related fact).

Standard options (A–D)

  • A: Both true; R correctly explains A.
  • B: Both true; R does not correctly explain A.
  • C: A true; R false.
  • D: A false; R true.

Common traps

  • True but off-topic reasons → often B.
  • Popular myths stated as assertions → A false while R stays true → D.
  • Do not pick A unless R is the direct why, not just another true statement.

How to solve fast

  1. Mark A true/false, then R true/false.
  2. If either is false, use C or D; stop there.
  3. If both true, test “Does R cause or explain A?” — yes → A, no → B.
