Practice Questions
Concept Explanation
Syllogism questions give two or three categorical statements (All, Some, No) and ask which conclusion must follow. Think in terms of sets: All A are B means A is fully inside B.
Standard forms
- All A are B — every A is a B.
- Some A are B — at least one A is a B.
- No A is B — A and B do not overlap.
- Some A are not B — at least one A lies outside B.
Quick rules
- All + All chain: All A are B and All B are C ⇒ All A are C.
- All + No: All A are B and No B is C ⇒ No A is C.
- Some + All: Some A are B and All B are C ⇒ Some A are C.
- Some + Some (middle not linked with All/No): usually no definite conclusion.
- Draw a quick Venn diagram when the answer is not immediate.
How to solve fast
- Label circles for each term; shade “No” and “All” regions.
- Check each conclusion against every possible diagram that fits the statements.
- For “Only I / Only II / Both / Neither”, test conclusions one at a time.

1. No A is B.
2. All B are C.
Conclusions:
I. No A is C.
II. Some C are not A.
Which is correct?ExplanationAs are outside B while all B are inside C, so some C (the B part) are not A. No A is C is not forced (A could still meet C outside B). -
