In this tutorial, we are going to learn to write a C program to calculate the cube of a given number. This program will be going to simply like a square program in c.
So before moving the writing program of the cube, let’s know about the cube.
What is the Cube of a number?
When a number is multiplied by itself three times, the result is known as the cube of that number. Cube is also denoted by a power of 3.
For example:
cube of 3 = 3^3 = 3*3*3 = 27
How our program will behave?
- Our program will take one integer value as an input.
- Then this number will multiply to itself three times by using multiplication(*) operator.
- For example if we have to calculate cube of 3 then first time we will muliply 3 to itself i.e. 3. After first time multiplication result will be 9.
- Again we will multiply 3 to the result which is 9. After second time multiplication output will be 9*3 = 27
- 27 is the output after calculating the cube of 3.
Program to calculate cube of an integer using C language
#include <stdio.h>
int main() {
float num,cube;
printf("Enter a number to calculate cube: ");
scanf("%f", &num);
cube = num * num * num;
printf("Cube of %.2f = %.2f",num, cube);
return 0;
}
Output
Enter a number to calculate cube: 5
Cube of 5.00 = 125.00
