In this tutorial we will learn writing C Program to check a given character is digit or not. We have multiple ways to write this program. Here we will see two ways first one will be checking with if else and second we will use isdigit() function available in ctype.h.
This program is very similar to c program to check vowel and consonant.
How our digit check program works?
- This program will take a character as an input. Then it will check either given character is digit or not?
- To check input is character or not we will use isDigit() function which is available in ctype.h header file.
- Or we can use if else to check character is digit or not?
- If match will successful then print input is digit, otherwise it is not a digit.
C Program to check character is digit or not
#include<stdio.h>
int main()
{
char ch;
printf("C program to check given character is digit or not \n");
printf("Please enter a character: ");
scanf("%c", &ch);
if(ch>='0' && ch<='9')
{
printf("Given Character %c is Digit.", ch);
}
else
{
printf("Given Character %c is Not Digit.", ch);
}
return(0);
}
Output 1:
C program to check given character is digit or not
Please enter a character: h
Given Character h is Not Digit.
Output 2:
C program to check given character is digit or not
Please enter a character: 1
Given Character 1 is Digit.
C Program to check character is digit or not using isdigit() method
#include <stdio.h>
#include <ctype.h>
int main() {
char ch;
printf("C program to check given character is digit or not \n");
printf("Please enter a character: ");
scanf("%c", &ch);
if (isdigit(ch))
printf("Given Character %c is Digit.", ch);
else
printf("Given Character %c is Not Digit.", ch);
return 0;
}
Output 1:
program to check given character is digit or not
Please enter a character: s
Given Character s is Not Digit.
Output 2:
C program to check given character is digit or not
Please enter a character: 9
Given Character 9 is Digit.
